Karen was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her early 20's. Karen went to Dominican College, graduated and was living in Santa Rosa I believe. We dated from 1976 to 1980 and I lost contact with her after college.
I am sad to see that Karen is gone. I had no idea. She and I were friends in junior high and early high school and were in Girl Scouts together. Last time I talked to her was in 1983--it is strange to think of her as gone.
Karen Leal and I went to St. Isabella's together. We sort of lost touch through high school. But in 4th grade we used to hide stuff-like money and candy-behind a loose board in the fence. I also remember that we laughed alot as kids. She was one of the few kids who did not make fun of my brown skin when I entered that school. Strange memories. So sorry to hear about her illness and passing so young.
